Hey, I'm thirteen, 5"4, 140 lbs, and I'm on a diet that I based off another question that I asked. Whenever I go to a friend's house, or a hotel... somewhere else besides MY bed to sleep in.. I never sleep and what makes it worse is knowing that my friend is sound asleep.. and Im restless. Is ADD medication really that bad for you?

I think I have ADD but my parents wont get me meds because it's bad for you. I took one of my friend's pills one time and I could focus way more and it felt like my head was clear and I had no anxiety. I also believe I have social anxiety and because of that I always tend to think too much, so maby that is why I can't seem to listen or concentrate. Are social anxiety meds just as bad for you as ADD meds? My parents say it's all bad for you but my outlook on the situation is everybody is going to die sooner or later so why should I live my life in misery (without pills) just so I can have a prolonged life of misery?

What is wrong with my tortoise?

Hi, I am writing on behalf of my mum. She has had a female hermann tortoise for 45 years (tortoise is about 45 years old) and she has recently layed eggs. This is something she does every year, even though there is no male, therefore the eggs aren't fertilised. After going to the vet to help her lay the eggs she has become very restless and agitated. She doesn't stop marching around her enclosure and she has even escaped a few times. We constantly have to check to see if she is still in her pen and it is getting diffcult. She has not eaten for a few weeks now (before and after laying eggs) so we are getting worried. She always has fresh water in a shallow dish, we give her the correct foods, she has plenty of room to walk about and has a house to go in at night so we can't think of anything that would be causing this behaviour. She has not done this before, so any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Will a student loan cover the costs of an apartment, books, and tuition?

I've got enough saved from years because I'm a late student. I'm only half into my second year & nearly 30. Anyway, I should be able to handle tuition the rest of this year and next year. Next year's college is going to be $1,000 a class. Dorm rooms are $600/$700 a month. So considering that much money for a confined space, I'd rather have an apartment at the same price. But being nearly 30, I get a lot of crap about being part of the boomerang generation. I don't want to have to hold down two jobs to get an apartment again. Just one part time job, I figure for food- gas- and utilities. And I don't have collateral either. My focus is Forensic Science, Bachelors of Science, so I believe that may pay pretty well when I find a related job in that field. I could probably pay it all back eventually.

Eating healthier? Does this sound healthy?

Try taking your meals that you have and splitting them into 3 small meals and a couple snacks- eating small amounts throughout the day is healthier than three big meals. Be careful with juices- make sure they are have natural sugar and not too much processed junk. Maybe add a little more dairy (I know you have some cheese and milk already) try maybe yogurt and fruit for a snack, or drink another glass of milk through the day. Skim milk is healthiest but 1% or even 2% are okay too. The rest sounds good though. Plenty of fruits and veggies. Just make sure to get enough carbs if you are exercising (like adding a small serving of pasta- but not as the main part of a meal) Good luck and I'm glad to see someone who want to lose weight in a healthy way!

I need a change in my life so bad?

I am a 38 year old stay at home wife and mother. My life, since I was 19 years old has been about being married and taking care of kids. I was married at 19 to my 1st husband, we had a daughter together and divorced after 11 years of marriage. I thought I was ready then to start doing stuff for myself, my daughter was then 7 years old, spent half of her time with her dad, and so I decided to try to go to college. But then I was impetuous and met and fell in love with the man who is now my husband. He was in the navy and so I put off going to school to pack up myself and my daughter and go to where he was stationed. That was almost 8 years ago, since then my hubby is out of the navy, we have had 2 little boys who are now 1 year old and 3 years old, my daughter who is now 15 yrs old lives with her dad, and here I am. I stay at home 24/7 with my boys, I travel to go visit my daughter twice a month, I go to the store once a week, and I have a great relationship with my husband, but that is all I have. I do nothing, I have no friends here where we live. And I just feel so, well, like an animal who is caged up. I am so restless. I work my *** off around here, my house is spotless, I cook like crazy, my boys are very well taken care of, and yet, I have nothing for me. I am working on getting started with school again, just registered for the fall semester. But I need more for myself. And I have no idea what that "more" is that I want or need. I love my husband and we have a great life together. But, I am going crazy here. Is anyone else going through this? I totally feel like I stagnating here. What can I do for myself? Give me some good, constructive ideas please.. Not anything that will hurt me or my family or marriage.. I need things that I can look forward to for myself.. School is a great start, but I need something more. Thanks!

How can i overcome my eating disorder?

i'm sick of lying to those around me and myself. for the last few years my focus has been onlosing weigh,dieting and later binging, gaining the weight back and trying to lose it again. i can't help feeling disgust and hate towards myself at any weight,even when i get complimented for looking thinner or healthier. at 18 years old i have no real close friends as i tend to isolate myself and afraid of people getting too close. my mum knows something is wrong as she sees my unhealthy eating patterns and weight changes. she has tried to help but i push her away. i was anorexic for a few years in my childhood and relapsed a few months ago, getting down to 90 pounds but i've been binging uncontrollably and have gone up to over 100 pounds. i dont know what to do anymore! so sick of this life that is not a life...

Well as a guy I can tell that its because you dont let the guys go for you. Once they start going for you, you may be the kind of person to shy away and when guys sense that they know to back off. If you would open up and let them advance more guys sould go for you. P.s.: try to act intersted but hold on until they get to know you better. My 6 month old daughter had open heart surgery 10 weeks ago. Since then she is restless and coughs constantly.?

It is a dry hacking cough and wakes her up. I thought she was having apnea episodes but they say it is periodic breathing and nothing to worry about. Now both her ped and cardiologist have said the same thing BUT I still think something is wrong. What should I do?? Any info or ideas

I'm overdue with my 3rd pregnancy...they've been slowly and PAINFULLY inducing me to the point of feeling like im in labour for almost a week straight now...I'm so sick, and sore, tired and just all around miserable...my husband isn't working right now, besides picking up my end of daily chores and all that because I literally am incompetent with how i'm feeling. I don't really ask much of him, considering how I'm feeling...but if I even so much as ask for a back rub at night time once the kids are in bed...I'd say about 90% of the time it turns into an arguement because he refuses to give me his time of day, He claims he needs "him" time and to be left the "hell" alone. I'm really nervous about being induced on friday to have this baby, and like I said...my whole body's just a wreck so to me...this feels like he's being very selfish and non supportive. To add, he's basically banished me to sleep ON THE COUCH because I have been restless and tossing and turning and it "wrecks his sleep"....does this seem normal, am I just being overly sensitive? Or is there actually a reason for this to be bothering me?

Will my acne ever go away?

I've had acne since I was in 5th grade. Now that I'm about to a Junior in high school, I'm getting really restless. In 5-7th grade my acne was terrible. It died down a little when in entered high school, but I still get really really bad breakouts and my acne has never gone away completely. It's not just bumps on my face. I have these weird red dots that look to be underneath the skin and I don't know what they are. Are those also pimples or something else? I've literally tried everything. I've given up on the dermatologist completely. Am I ever going to grow out of this?

ok so i just read this new article which says that restless leg syndrome has now been linked with male impotence, making men who have restless leg syndrome 50% more likely to be impotent and have erectile dysfunction. my boyfriend often shakes his legs when we are going to sleep at night, so i think he might have restless leg syndrome (though he's never been diagnosed or anything) and now i am all worked up and scared at the idea of him being impotent, i am 20 and he is 25, it's not like we're planning on having kids any time soon but i want to have children with him more than anything some day and i am so upset at the idea of not being able to have his children. i know its stupid for me to be this upset, i don't know why i'm so emotional, i don't even know if he officially has restless leg syndrome, all i know is i'm upset! how do i calm down? can someone try to put my mind at ease somehow?

A couple years ago, a guy I worked with was broken up from his gf and my relationship was on the rocks. We ended up hooking up a couple times and were really good friends. He wanted me to leave my bf and even offered me a place to stay for a little while, if I did in fact leave. I don't really want to get another one but i will if i must. and i mean MUST. only option. so anyway, my filter is reasonably quiet but when it takes the water back out is CASCADES and it pushes any fish around that gets to close. So a soulution was i slightly loosened the intake tube that takes in the water and that lessenede the waterfall but it made a noise like when its drizzling outside and you're in a tent.. is this ok for me to do?

Extremely light foods to add to my diet?

Hi. I'm 15. I believe I have developed lactose intolerance recently, as I have all the symptoms of it: gas, diarrhea, bloating, and stomach cramps. This is only after I eat dairy. I don't eat meat, and I haven't for about 1.5 months. I don't eat any vegetables, the only fruit I eat is strawberries, I don't eat junk, I don't have sugary snacks, I don't ever have desert (i.e. cakes, cupcakes, etc.), and most importantly I don't eat any vegetarian foods (i.e. soy, beans, eggs). Mainly I eat bread. I usually eat 1/2 a plain bagel with nothing on it and 1/2 cup of strawberries drizzled in 1 severing of sugar daily. It's a hard transition for me, as before I discovered this lactose intolerance (about 2 weeks ago, just stopped eating all dairy 2 days ago), I lived on wawa bagels with cream cheese and cheese quesadillas with sour cream, along with the strawberries. There are multiple reasons I don't eat meat. One, it makes me kind of nauseous (not due to my acid reflux). Two, it is really high in calories. Three, I enjoy not eating meat, as I am not getting sick anymore like I was before when I was eating meat and dairy. This meat allergy (which I assume I have) is also new. I have never liked beans since I hit puberty and my taste buds changed completely. I don't eat pasta, as I haven't since 6th grade, when I came down with a stomach virus and puked up pasta, then puked 11 more times the next day (it was quite bad, and it was over Christmas break), so that was a turn off for me. I bike for 30 minutes daily and walk at a pace of 2.5 miles per hour for at least an hour daily, so I am rather active. On days when it is too hot to bike,I swim for 30-45 minutes instead. Come July 17th (when I will be able to run again), I will probably run 2 miles daily in the morning (I'll be on vacation that week, so I'll be running on the beach). I can't run now because of a stress fracture. I get the boot of in 6 days, and the doctor said he would like to give it a month before I go back to running. So, I am a fairly active person. I consume anywhere from 300-800 calories daily, except on days when I binge and go up to 1700-1800. I do have an eating disorder, and am just using reflux as an excuse to not eat much. My mom has not caught on yet. I was wondering, are there any low-calorie foods that I could eat other than bread? I don't like chocolate either. Thanks.

What job on the police force suits me?

I want something more exciting then a traffic cop because I'm the kind of guy that gets to restless to sit around and do the same thing all day. But I also don't want to deal with a lot of drugs, the idea of running around having to deal with doped up junkies doesn't appeal to me. you sound a little like me :) it could be moderate depression but it could also be bipolar. if you find that ur have very frequent mood swings then it sounds more likely to be bipolar especially if your also finding that your becoming very impulsive and hyperactive and have compulsive needs to do stuff now ( my cousin who's really dear to me suffers from bipolar ) but if you feel like drained most days, and tired and constantly crying but have a few days of 'normal-ness' without being so high then its possibly moderate depression x

I am a 23 yr old female who has had problems with fissures in my colon for 2 yrs and finally got a partial internal sphincterotomy done Friday to fix what doc said was a very bad fissure. Later after surgery to find out they were so bad they were past being a fissure and were more like ulcers ( 2 of these instead of 1) I woke up shortly after surgery and they r wanting to send me home and I asked to go pee first and when I didn't come out of bathroom the nurse came in and saw me standing there freakin out on how much blood was drizzling all over the floor. She proceeded to wheel me out to my car regardless and when I got home I noticed my whole back side bloody and was standing in bathroom with blood dripping everywhere ....called a diff nurse and she said they shouldn't have sent me home ... should I try to do something about this or ignore this...

Okay, what is this bug that i found?

i live in North Carolina. i am located on the coast, like 30 minutes or so from the state port. i was outside exploring yesterday and i found this weird bug on my foot, i do not know where it came from or how it got there but i have never seen one before. it kind of looked like a spider without its head. it is black and looks to me it has about 6 legs on it side, i do not see eyes or a head. can anyone identify this thing for me and tell me what it is? i have a picture, i don't think it is a good picture, a bit out of focus because i took it with my p.o.s cell phone. if you are willing to take a look at the picture, email me at ckunnmann@yahoo.com

I have really bad restless leg syndrome?

RLS is really hard to explain. But it's like you have electric surges going through your legs and you have to move them or you'll go crazy. It's the worst feeling ever. It always comes when I'm trying to sleep. I'm a 14 year old girl, and I don't know what to do to treat it. My mum and I asked the doctor about it but he said because I'm so young, he can't prescribe a medicine for me. Is there anything else I can do? Any tricks or tips so to speak? Thank you! xx

Some of my BlackBerry keys won't work?

When I type on my BlackBerry Curve 8520, it used to type the letters normally. Now, when I type the letters 'B, N and M' nothing appears or changes. I split a bit of liquid yogurt (YOP) on it, I think that it seeped through to the keys but it was fine until the next day. I then got a little drizzle of water on it the next day but it OK for about an hour. I went to text my friend and the enter button kept sending the messages when I typed something wrong and pressed the backspace button, I really need help on how to fix this. I checked every where online and nothing has fixed it! I think I should take it back to O2 and send it away to their warehouse but will this cost much? I just need a second opinion! I think the best way to go is to get your friends together and base your free time around them. Don't let yourself be alone because it might start you thinking about your ex. Spend time around people who care about you and want to see you smiling, most importantly have fun! If a guy asks you out who you find decent, it's better to give him a chance than to reject him straight off. By agreeing to go on a date you're not betraying anyone! You will eventually find someone who you can love even more than your ex, you just have to give it a try each time the opportunity comes round. Being single can be so much fun, you just need to look at things objectively and decide what's best for you: whether you want to be in a relationship or whether you're ok being single for a while. You never know when someone will come into your life, you just have to take opportunities when they come! You will definitely get over him, it's still an open wound. I always have the urge to move my arms or legs (especially legs, and when I'm lying down trying to sleep). It's really annoying when I'm trying to sleep. It's like a tingly/ticking feeling in my legs, it's hard to describe. It goes away after I move my legs/arms but them it comes back. Haha I have this problem too. I eat sooo much, and yet still, at almost 15 years old, I'm only 116 pounds. However much I eat (I've been trying to gain weight because I have absolutely no curves whatsoever lol), I don't gain a pound. You probably just have a high metabolism, and just be lucky that you aren't like all the girls who eat one thing and gain like five pounds lol. Aside from the half an hour of play time at the park I'd suggest you take him on two half an hour walks daily. He seems like he does need more mental stimulation as well as exercise daily. Walks help provide mental stimulation and physically exercise. Plus the fresh air would be good-for both the dog and you. I've heard of Restless Leg Syndrome, but this is with my whole body. My legs, feet, arms, hands, and even my back all feel really weird. After implanon removal?

Got the implanon inserted Feb 2011 and removed a week & a half ago because during those 5 months I've been bleeding everyday nonstop. After the removal I got a few cramps (that have gradually gotten worse) and the bleeding finally stopped 2 days after. My only concern is I have no period but I have these super bad cramps. Along with the cramps I'm having restless legs. I also have a watery discharge ever since the day I got it removed. Before I ever got on the implanon my periods were regular and I'd cramp a day prior 2 getting my period. I've been cramping for a week & a half & still no period. Took a pregnancy test just in case but came back negative. Does anyone know what may be the issue? Could it be ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, an STD, or just my body trying to go back to normal? I want to go to the ER to check but really don't know what to do. Help please. Thanks!

Looking for sleep aids (natural or other) that have helped others?

I have had insomnia on and off through out my life. I have really bad anxiety and am currently being treated with Pristiq daily and also Klonopin as needed for the anxiety. However, I do not want to use the Klonopin to induce sleep as I do not want to become dependent on a benzo. My psych dr. prescribed Restoril (which is another benzo) to try to help but it made me so restless I got no sleep at all. Would prefer a natural sleep aid but need something. Also, need something that I can wake up and tend to my 13 month old who does not sleep through the night yet and then easily go back to sleep. Any ideas or experiences?

you can be mentally and physically addicted to soda. if you drink soda daily then your body will start craving the caffeine. try limiting how much sodas you drink a day or if you drink one every day limit how many you drink a week. you could try replacing soda with any other drinks you like that don't have caffeine in it. i used to be addicted to dr. pepper. i would HAVE to have at least one every day if not two. when i drink soda it calms me down also and when i don't have a soda i would feel irritable and i would get headaches. but i replaced dr. pepper with capri suns and flavored water and also tea (i know it has caffeine in it). the tea would still give me the little bit of caffeine i "needed" but, drinking that with juice, i soon was able to not have to drink tea every day either.

Planning ahead... What to do when I go for University?

It's totally possible to keep a horse and go to college. I'm almost done and have managed to have 1-2 horses the entire 4 years. Definitely not easy as have to work to have money for the horses and find time to ride, go to class, study etc. But I do it and manage to get mostly A's too! Im so stressed it makes me physically sick. Most recently (having waited two years to go to college) I am just now going, which is exciting but im so stressed about everything (from fafsa to registering for classes) it feels far from worth it at this point, im so stressed i don't want to eat, i'm so restless when i want to sleep. and it's not just school, it's everything. im an artist and everybody thinks im just not working on my art but in reality every time i do something im disappointed, its not good enough. the same with my music, no matter how good i get and how good i sing i feel unaccomplished. im left with feelings of frustration so intense i shake and am angry. I have plenty of people who love me and had a great childhood. so it's not that. sometimes i just want to be hugged so bad it brings me to tears. it's not like im deprived from hugs either, i don't really understand. I was put on many diff medications, switching from one to the next. it made it worse. ive talked to doctors and psychologists. I was open and so ready and willing to let whatever this is go but nothing is happening, i can't even identify why i feel so horribly discouraged and frustrated all the time. I want to give up. ive contemplated running away and not telling anyone where i am, try to start a new life, but ive moved many times and basically done that (besides not telling my family) and my hopelessness goes wherever i do. then in my mind, i start to think that only leaves suicide but i don't want to give up that easy and i can't poison my family that way. Your ACT score may be on the low end, but your grades are great. It seems like you only gotten A's or higher in high school, and have done well with extra curriculars. I don't know much about NYU, but I do know about applying to college as I am a student at a Public-Ivy Institution. Is it normal to be very nervous/anxious/stressed?

I get overwhelmed easily with situations and seem to get very stressed out in regards to getting everything done on time and everything feels like a conscious effort. In social situations i can sometimes be very nervous and then think about the fact that i am nervous and this makes me act strangely sometimes and very anxious. It is very annoying and i have tried alternatives to help stop feeling this way by reading books to gain information on how to combat these problems but they still occur. I find it very hard to relax and feel loose around anyone but my mother, i wish i wasn't this way, do any other geminis feel tense a lot and stressed? I am quite worried about developing a nervous illness or something along those lines as i have already developed rashes on my skin due to stress and i'm not even twenty yet, just turned 19. This is worse when i am single where as in a relationship i am much calmer. At the moment I am single feeling very restless and stressed and tense at the moment. If i stay in the house for a couple of days or do not talk to my friends for a few days i can get very down and lonely and start to feel quite insecure and paranoid when leaving the house to do simple things like go to the shop. I came out of a relationship six months ago which hurt me very much, i think he was a sociopath and has sort of scarred me a little bit i still miss the few good times we had and the company but would never go back there as i know it would just get more and more painful. I still love him but i know he is no good for me and even though he calmed me down, i was crying more than happy and fed up of being accused and manipulated. Things to do for free?

Me and my fiance get into a fight about this very question almost every day. He claims that because we have no money to spend on extra things right now, then that means that we have to resort to the same things we do everyday. Watch t.v., play with our 7 month old, and go on the computer. Hes starting a new job in 3 weeks so for now I am just trying to come up with a few things that will keep us all entertained. I can tell that my 7 month old is getting very bored of doing the same things all the time as well. Keep in mind I read to him a lot, he cant crawl or walk. My Doberman has been acting weird lately?

My male Doberman is around 6 years old. He's a healthy, active, amazingly friendly dog. But lately he's been stressed about something. Since last week He cries every night now and roams the house. He's completely restless. He's not as interested in things as he used to be. He has an ear infection and sores on his paws from playing to hard, so I'm thinking maybe that could be it. I've been treating his wounds for about three months, but he's never acted this stressed. I'm not sure what to think. I really am getting scared that it's old age. Does a dog adopted out drizzling pee from excitement seeing me mean that she was happier with me?

We adopted out a boxador back in December and was rescued her brother in January. The people who adopted the girl wanted to adopt the brother and after some thought we said yes. Well today we went to have them sign the contract and I noticed that little miss has gotten pretty tubby and was VERY hyper and so was her brother who just went to stay with them on the 22nd. Both were jumping up a lot (which they were trained to never do) and little miss had taken up the habit of piddling from excitement which she never did with us. We take our dogs to the dog park 3 times a week and give them plenty of time to play with each other and the fact that two hyper boxadors were that wound up when we saw them makes me wonder if they ever get exercise. Then the boy tried to follow us out the door and the man had to hold him while we left. I know they're good people, but I do worry about two very hyper dogs being allowed to get that wound up plus the piddling issue. Was I wrong to let them adopt the brother? Does both dogs' behavioral problems mean that they were better off with me or have some other underlying issue? I'd like to learn from this so I can pick even better people in the future. I'm very happy that the biggest issue we've had is a lack of exercise and the dogs are clearly still friendly and healthy. I'm a bit upset, dogs just don't like being cooped up...

The Banana is high glycemic so it won't keep you satisfied as long. With the broiled lean ham you need to have no more than 4oz. with your meal. What I do is interval training on the treadmill so I walk a quarter mile then I jog a quarter mile for 30min. If you do less than 30 min. you are just burning calories but once you do thirty or over you are burning fat.

I was recently diagnosed with Bipolar 2 Disorder.I have a history of major depression but i wasn't diagnosed until after i had a hypomanic episode.Some people's experiences of hypomania can be quite positive.With some experiencing high functioning behaviour and increased productivity and creativity.However my hypomanic phase was a very negative experience.It was characterised by uncontrollable racing thoughts, insomnia,dysphoria(extreme agitation and irritability), full blown rages,excess energy, hypersexuality and excessive spending.I am now on Lithium and my pdoc is great.My question is should i focus on the label or the symptoms?

You probably need to do more exercise. 10 mins isn't nearly enough. You need to do about an hour 5 days a week. We lose muscle as we age which means we burn less calories. If you drink diet drinks stop that too as it causes weight gain. Also write down every thing that you eat or drink. You may not be being honest with yourself.

me and my fiance have decided to start our family so today we both went to see our local doctor and he recommended some folate to get he said 0.4mg but i could only get 0.5mg and apparently thats ok dosage. he also took my blood pressure and sent me off to get a blood test to check my tyroid and all other shots that ive had recently like chicken pox and rubella plus i got the flu shot today. just wondering if he has missed anything. i also no i have to start exercising and eating a good diet and i do not drink or smoke. he said since im young it will happen easily and i dont have a lot of stress in my life so thats perfect and i no that u dont go in to make a baby we are just hoping that it happens and getting my body ready for when it does. if anyone has any tips on what ive missed out please share :) (but please dont tell me not to try and make a baby as ive already said im not focusing on it i no it happens in its own time)

i would actually suggest you eat more for lunch than dinner. the main reason being that you burn off the calories from your chicken and cheese and stuff throughout the day rather then keep it when youre about to go to bed. other than that its be ok to swtich up a little :] like add some honey or something with your greek yogurt or some fruits. make yourself a little more varied snack like chopping up those apples and adding some sour crem and honey or something just find something you like thats healthy and wont make you feel guilty. and im sure this is way less than the recommended 2000 calories a day, which is good cuz if your trying to loose weight you should eat less but not to little add just a bit more to your morning meals. good luck.

How to add more curves to my figure?

I'm 5'7" female, 127 lbs, 21 years old I want to add more curves to my figure (putting on more weight and looking good) I'm size 5 which I don't feel comfortable in, I feel too thin. My goal to be size 9 or 140 lbs. It's hard to put on weight and I eat all I can and stuff myself at every meal until my stomach hurts. I drink juices, whole chocolate milk and drinks with calories instead of water. I add olive oil to sautee foods or just drizzle it over my dinner. I add whole fat yogurt to my breakfast fruit smoothie. I even stuff myself before bedtime because I heard eating before sleep will make people gain weight. I don't execrise except maybe normal daily walk. But I still don't put on weight at all. How come? Do I have to wait until I have kid or age to put on weight? What other advices will you give me? My dad is skinny and very tall 6'6" and mom is 5'6" and overweight
